Lurlin, aged 84, was born on January 11, 1941, in Iowa Falls, IA. He was the son of the late Edward W. and Garnet (Neubauer) Schermer. He married his beloved wife, Judith Miller, on December 10, 1960, in Dumont, IA, creating a family that would stand by him through the years.
An industrious man, Lurlin dedicated many years of his career to the Hiland Potato Chip Company before transitioning to the Davis Oil Company, where he eventually retired. His legacy is marked not only by his professional contributions but also by his passions, including hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing cards—activities that brought joy to his life and those around him.
Lurlin is survived by his wife, Judith, along with their son, Michael (Ann) Schermer, residing in Fertile, IA. His family includes grandchildren Cassandra, Clare, and Matt (Kylie), as well as four great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by his siblings: Lynn (Susan) Schermer of Little Rock, AR, Loren (Sue) Schermer of Hampton, IA, and JoEllen (Lynn) Arends of Hampton, IA.
