BREAKING: Kate Koval has shattered her career high, scoring 22 points as the No. 5 LSU Tigers crushed the University of New Orleans (UNO) 126-62 in a dominating performance on December 10, 2023. The Tigers, now 10-0 this season, showcased their offensive prowess, with six players reaching double digits.

In a game that highlighted their height and skill, the 6-foot-5 Ukrainian forward made all nine of her shots, primarily around the basket, exploiting UNO’s defensive weaknesses. Koval’s standout performance was complemented by MiLaysia Fulwiley, a South Carolina transfer who contributed 18 points and delivered a stunning behind-the-back assist to Amiya Joyner, who finished with 14 points.

The Tigers set a season record, eclipsing the 100-point mark for the ninth time this season, despite struggling from beyond the arc with just 4 of 14 shooting from three-point range. Instead, they dominated in the paint, scoring 86 points close to the basket. LSU shot an impressive 59% overall, hitting 50 of 85 attempts.

UNO struggled significantly, hitting only 31% of their shots and committing an alarming 27 turnovers, leading to a lopsided defeat that marks their eighth loss of the season. Shanihya Brown and Brialle Washington led the UNO scoring with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

With a commanding lead of 28-12 by the end of the first quarter, LSU never looked back, boasting a halftime score of 63-29 and entering the final period with a substantial 99-55 advantage. The Tigers also dominated the boards, out-rebounding UNO 57-29 and enjoying a staggering 43-9 lead in points off turnovers.

Looking ahead, LSU will face coach Kim Mulkey’s alma mater, Louisiana Tech, in the Compete 4 Cause Classic in New Orleans on Saturday night. Meanwhile, UNO will aim to turn their fortunes around as they visit crosstown rival Tulane on December 14.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as LSU continues to dominate women’s college basketball!
