BREAKING: Lincolnshire County Council has just announced plans to resurface three major roads in the region, addressing critical wear and tear. The project, aimed at providing long-term solutions, is expected to impact daily commuters and freight transport significantly.

The A52 around Leverton, near Boston, is set for a comprehensive resurfacing over the next 10 weeks, with work scheduled to begin soon. Overnight closures are planned from 7 PM to 6 AM to minimize disruption, although specific dates are yet to be confirmed. The road has been plagued by persistent issues, including crumbling surfaces and poor drainage.

In addition to the A52, another vital freight route—the A17/A151 junction in Holbeach—will be resurfaced over approximately 12 weeks. Complaints about the road’s deteriorating condition have prompted this urgent action.

The third project involves a 500-meter section of the A6121 Ryhall Road in Stamford, which will take about 7 weeks to complete and includes the installation of two pedestrian crossings. These projects, if approved by Councillor Michael Cheyne, the executive member for highways, will mark a significant improvement in road safety and quality.

Councillor Ingrid Sheard emphasized the necessity of full resurfacing, stating, “

To patch up or do anything less than full resurface would open ourselves up to having to do further work down the line.

” This commitment to thorough repairs aims to prevent further logistical challenges in the future.

Moreover, the highways committee has also greenlit a new cycleway and improved footpath connecting Spalding and Pinchbeck. Councillor Thomas Sneath highlighted the importance of safe cycling routes, especially for those working unconventional hours. “In late evenings and early mornings, a lot of people use cycles to get to and from factories. Having a segregated cycleway is the most important factor to keep them safe,” he remarked.

This initiative is being funded through a substantial £1.8 million government grant, originally allocated for another project in Lincoln, which was scrapped following public feedback.

The upcoming road and cycleway improvements are expected to enhance safety for all users while addressing long-standing issues affecting transportation in Lincolnshire. Residents and commuters should stay alert as more details about the commencement dates and specific traffic management plans are released.

With these developments underway, the community can anticipate safer travel routes in the near future, making it an essential topic for local discussions and social sharing. Stay tuned for updates on this evolving story.
