BREAKING: A Solano County Superior Court jury has convicted Imani Marquise Robinson, a 28-year-old man from Vacaville, of second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of Ceri Anne Granger on February 14, 2025, in Vallejo. The jury reached the verdict after just three days of deliberation, confirming Robinson’s use of a firearm during the crime.

While the jury found Robinson not guilty of first-degree murder, they accepted the prosecution’s argument that he personally discharged a weapon, leading to a potential additional 20-year sentence. Judge William J. Pendergast is expected to impose a sentence of 25 years to life during the hearing set for 8:30 a.m. on December 1, 2025, at the Justice Center in Fairfield.

Deputy District Attorney Jason Lianides had pressed for the first-degree charge but faced a jury that ultimately opted for the lesser conviction. The trial, which began in mid-September, featured testimony from multiple police officers and crime scene specialists, shedding light on the tragic circumstances surrounding Granger’s death.

Robinson was arrested shortly after the incident. Vallejo police responded to an emergency call at 11:57 p.m. on February 14, where they found Granger suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators identified Robinson as a suspect and executed a warrant for his arrest on February 24, successfully apprehending him without incident at his residence.

According to court records, Robinson, who stands at 5 feet, 4 inches and weighs 125 pounds, remains in custody without bail at the Stanton Correctional Facility in Fairfield. The emotional toll of this case extends beyond the courtroom, impacting Granger’s loved ones and the community at large.

As the sentencing date approaches, the focus remains on the implications of this verdict and the long-term effects on both families involved. The case has drawn attention to the issue of gun violence, particularly on a day meant to celebrate love.
