Guillermo del Toro & Oscar Isaac Announce New Thriller ‘Fury’

BREAKING: Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has just announced a new collaboration with Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 9, 2025. The project, titled Fury, is described as a “very cruel, very violent” thriller that promises to delve deep into the complexities of human violence and regret.
Del Toro made the announcement while standing alongside Isaac, revealing that he is actively writing the screenplay. “I’m writing a project to do with Oscar,” he stated, emphasizing that Fury will explore thriller elements reminiscent of his previous work, Nightmare Alley. He described the film as “like My Dinner with Andre but killing people after each course,” highlighting its dark and intense nature.
The announcement follows the screening of Frankenstein at TIFF, where Isaac plays the brilliant but egotistical scientist. The film also features actors Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, and Christoph Waltz, showcasing a star-studded lineup that has already generated buzz.
Del Toro elaborated on the themes of Fury, stating, “Because I’m very interested in the violence we do to each other, and we do it with our minds, we do it with our souls and we do it physically.” He emphasized that the motif of regret will play a significant role in the film, reflecting his current reflections on life at the age of 60. “I’m in the regret decade, so expect a lot of regret,” he added.
In addition to Fury, del Toro also discussed his upcoming stop-motion adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel, The Buried Giant. He noted that this animated project “is not going to be for kids,” hinting at its mature themes, a detail initially reported in early 2023.
Fans can expect more updates as del Toro and Isaac continue to develop this thrilling new project. The collaboration between these two creative powerhouses is already capturing attention, with many eager to see how their unique visions will unfold on screen.
