Google Unveils Pixel Care Plus: New Device Protection Program

BREAKING NEWS: Google has just launched its revamped device protection program, Pixel Care Plus, replacing the previous Google Preferred Care. This new initiative aims to provide enhanced coverage for users of the latest Google Pixel devices, including the upcoming Google Pixel 10, starting at just $5 per month.

How does Pixel Care Plus work? If you find yourself with a cracked screen, you must file a claim online first. Once your claim is approved, you can have your device repaired at a nearby Google store or authorized repair center, such as UBreakIFix. Notably, the front and back glass of Pixel devices can be replaced, but the inner screens of foldable phones are excluded from the program. Battery replacements are only covered if the battery holds less than 80% of its original charge.
Importantly, Pixel Care Plus is applicable only for new devices purchased within 60 days of enrollment. Google commits to providing free next-day shipping for approved repairs or replacements, enhancing the convenience for users.
Pricing details reveal two plans: Pixel Care Plus for the Google Pixel Watch 4, available at $5 per month, and Pixel Care Plus with Loss and Theft, starting at $6 per month. Monthly payments are flexible, allowing users to opt for a pay-as-you-go model or purchase two years of coverage upfront. Both plans can be canceled at any time, providing users with ultimate flexibility.
The differentiation between Pixel Care Plus and Pixel Care Plus Loss and Theft is clear. While both plans cover unlimited screen and battery replacements, the Loss and Theft option also safeguards against devices being lost or stolen, though it limits claims to two incidents per year. Mechanical issues, however, have no claim limits.
For current subscribers of Google Preferred Care, there’s no need for concern. Google confirms that these users will be automatically transitioned to the new Pixel Care Plus program in the coming months.
