GG.Bet Exits UK Market, Stops Player Registrations Immediately
BREAKING: GG.Bet, a leading esports betting platform, has announced its withdrawal from the UK market effective immediately. On December 12, 2023, the company ceased accepting new player registrations and has surrendered its license from the UK Gambling Commission. This decision marks a significant shift in the online betting landscape.
In a message posted on their official website, GG.Bet stated, “Dear players, GGBET.co.uk is preparing to wind down its operations under the Gambling Commission licence as part of a planned platform closure.” The platform is taking steps to ensure that customers can withdraw their funds and receive full support before the closure deadline of January 9, 2024.
GG.Bet has already halted new deposits from existing players and confirmed that all cash balances must be withdrawn by the deadline. Bets placed before this date will be honored, but any wagers on events occurring afterwards will be voided. The company reassured customers, stating, “We will process all pending withdrawals promptly, using the original payment method where possible.”
This closure comes as GG.Bet faces significant changes in the regulatory environment, particularly the UK government’s decision to raise taxes on online casinos to 40% effective April 2026. This drastic tax increase likely played a role in GG.Bet’s decision to exit the UK market, where it had been operational since 2023.
GG.Bet operates under Rednines Gaming LTD and has a broader portfolio that includes slots, sports betting, and live casino games. While its UK operations are winding down, the company continues to thrive in other regions, including Ukraine, where it remains active.
As this situation develops, players are urged to act quickly to secure their funds. GG.Bet is committed to providing a responsible exit strategy for its customers, but time is of the essence. This move not only affects current players but also highlights the growing concerns among online betting operators regarding regulatory pressures in the UK.
Stay tuned for further updates on this unfolding story as we monitor GG.Bet’s operations and the broader implications for the gambling industry.
