Gardiner Tigers Surge to 5-0 with 28-8 Win Over Medomak Valley

UPDATE: The Gardiner Tigers have secured their fifth consecutive victory, dominating the Medomak Valley Panthers with a decisive 28-8 win at Hoch Field on Friday night. This victory solidifies Gardiner’s perfect record at 5-0 in the Class C football standings.
The game showcased Gardiner’s resilient offense and aggressive defense, with pivotal plays that turned the momentum in their favor. Early in the first quarter, quarterback Isaac Madore launched a pass that was deflected, landing in the hands of wide receiver Brayden Elliott, who raced into the end zone for the opening touchdown. “When I saw Brayden catch that, it was a relief, a huge relief,” said Madore, highlighting the team’s unity and quick adaptability.
Madore completed 9 of 15 passes for 126 yards, including one touchdown and one interception. He alternated with fellow sophomore Justin Doody, who posted 1 of 2 for 31 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 78 yards on 15 carries. The balanced attack was further complemented by junior receiver Chase McGrane, who secured 6 receptions for 94 yards.
The Tigers showcased an impressive rushing game, amassing 177 yards on the ground. Senior Owen Chadwick contributed with a touchdown run after a standout 57-yard return by Elliott, pushing Gardiner ahead 21-0 by halftime.
Despite the loss, Medomak Valley demonstrated tenacity, with sophomore running back Jaydiin Ruiz leading the ground game with 135 yards on 16 carries. Senior running back Shamus Pease added another 73 yards on 11 carries. The Panthers managed to score late in the game when senior receiver Ashton Lowe returned a punt 38 yards for a touchdown, bringing some excitement to the closing moments.
“Our success comes from teamwork and dedication,” Gardiner coach Patrick Munzing stated. “We have a lot of multi-sport athletes who bring their skills together. Every week, a different player steps up, whether on offense, defense, or special teams.”
The Tigers’ defense was a crucial factor in their victory, forcing six turnovers—three interceptions and three fumble recoveries. “We won the turnover game, which really wins you ballgames,” Doody emphasized, underlining the importance of defensive plays in critical moments.
