UPDATE: Starting Monday, July 28, Beltrami County will offer free wood chips at the Target Debris Site located at 2115 23rd St. NW. This initiative is set to run Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. until August 8, 2023, and is expected to benefit local residents in need of landscaping materials.

The county’s announcement highlights that there will be an operator on site to assist with loading wood chips into heavy-duty trailers and trucks. However, residents using other vehicles will need to serve themselves, making this a convenient option for many.

To access the Target Debris Site, follow the detour from Hannah Avenue to 23rd St. NW. It’s important to note that the site is no longer accepting tree debris; all such materials must now be taken to the Demolition Landfill at 2331 North Plantagenet Road SE. The landfill operates under normal hours but will extend hours on Saturdays to 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Please be aware that the Demolition Landfill is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

This wood chip giveaway is a timely opportunity for residents looking to enhance their outdoor spaces while also promoting sustainable practices. With the demand for landscaping materials rising, the county’s initiative provides a valuable resource.

Stay tuned for more updates as the giveaway progresses, and be sure to share this news with neighbors who might benefit from the free wood chips.
