Fatal Ocala Motorcycle Crash Claims Life Early Morning of Aug. 23

URGENT UPDATE: A tragic motorcycle accident in southwest Ocala has claimed the life of a 35-year-old man early this morning, August 23, 2023. The incident, which occurred shortly after 2 a.m., involved a motorcycle and a car, marking one of two fatal motorcycle crashes in the area on the same day.
According to Ocala Police Department officials, the crash took place near the intersection of Southwest 17th Street and State Road 200. The motorcycle, identified as a BMW, was heading southbound on Southwest 20th Court when it was struck by a Volkswagen traveling eastbound on SR 200. The collision was described as a T-bone accident.
Emergency responders transported the motorcycle rider to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities are withholding the rider’s name pending family notification. The driver of the Volkswagen, a 26-year-old man, is expected to recover from his injuries.
