Eugene Hageman, 94, Passes Away; Funeral Services Scheduled
URGENT UPDATE: Eugene Hageman, a beloved member of the Decorah community, has passed away at the age of 94. He died on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at the Barthell O.E.S Home in Decorah, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and community spirit.
The community is invited to pay their respects during a Mass of Christian burial scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at St. Benedict Church, located at 307 W. Main St, Decorah. The service will be officiated by Father Donald Hertges. Following the service, Hageman will be laid to rest at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery in Ossian, a final farewell to a cherished figure.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church, allowing friends and family to come together in remembrance and support. Hageman’s passing marks a significant moment for the Decorah community, which will feel the loss of his warmth and presence deeply.
As plans for the funeral proceed, community members are encouraged to share their memories of Hageman, celebrating a life well-lived. This gathering will not only honor his memory but also strengthen the bonds of community that he cherished so much.
