URGENT UPDATE: Elon Musk is on the verge of a remarkable financial comeback, nearly reclaiming the billions he lost earlier this year as Tesla’s stock surges. As of market close on Monday, Musk’s net worth stands at an impressive $429 billion, just shy of his January 1 total of $432 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

This dramatic recovery comes on the heels of a significant boost in Tesla’s share price, which has risen nearly 18% over the past five days, marking the first positive territory for the stock in 2025. The latest surge was partly fueled by Tesla’s recent proposal for a staggering $1 trillion pay package for Musk.

Earlier this year, Musk’s wealth plummeted as he engaged in government initiatives alongside former President Donald Trump, causing concern among investors about his focus on Tesla. The decline reached its nadir in April when Musk’s net worth dipped to a low of $290 billion, coinciding with Tesla’s share price dropping 45% year-to-date.

In response to investor worries, Musk announced in May that he would step back from his government role, which allowed Tesla’s stock to gradually recover. By late May, his net worth rebounded to $390 billion, as the company’s stock stabilized with only a 5% decline year-to-date.

Tensions flared again in June when Musk and Trump exchanged insults on social media, leading to a further 14% drop in Tesla’s stock. However, the tide turned once again with the announcement of Musk’s massive compensation package, coupled with news that he purchased $1 billion worth of Tesla shares.

As Musk races ahead of Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison—who briefly surpassed him as the world’s richest person—he is now closer than ever to becoming the world’s first trillionaire.

This latest financial resurgence not only showcases Musk’s resilience but also highlights the volatile nature of tech and automotive markets, which continue to attract global investor attention. As Tesla moves forward, all eyes will be on Musk and the company’s stock performance in the coming weeks.
