Discovery Shoppe Donates $25,000 to Build Playground for Trauma-Affected Kids
UPDATE: Just announced, The Discovery Shoppe League has donated an impressive $25,000 to support the installation of playground equipment at a local domestic violence shelter in Chico, California. This urgent initiative aims to create a safe and healing environment for children who have faced trauma, ensuring they have a space to play and regain a sense of normalcy.
Volunteer Janice Keating presented the check earlier today to Sarah Sullivan-Avery, the Program Manager for Catalyst Prevention Outreach, and Executive Director Anastacia Snyder. The funds will directly facilitate the installation of durable and safe equipment that encourages physical activity and emotional healing.
The Discovery Shoppe, a non-profit organization operating since 1959, dedicates all proceeds back into the community, with this year’s total contributions surpassing $165,381 across sixteen local charities. Located at 315 Flume Street, the shop is entirely volunteer-run, showcasing the community’s commitment to supporting those in need.
This playground initiative stands out not only for its financial contribution but also for its profound impact on the lives of children affected by domestic violence. By providing a space that promotes physical activity and emotional well-being, the Discovery Shoppe League is making strides toward healing and resilience in the community.
As the project moves forward, local residents are encouraged to follow the developments and share in the excitement of creating a positive environment for children in need. Stay tuned for more updates on this impactful initiative and others from The Discovery Shoppe League.
