URGENT UPDATE: A new cannabis shop, Dazed, has opened its doors in Syracuse, New York, marking a significant addition to the local cannabis market. Located at 135 Marshall St., this dispensary began operations at the end of April 2025 and is set to host a grand opening event later this summer, coinciding with the return of Syracuse University students.

The shop has yet to be officially listed by the New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM), which confirms that locations are only published once they hold a grand opening event. Manager Kasey Tsaganos shared that while Dazed is currently in a “soft opening” phase, plans are in motion for a larger launch, likely around late August.

Despite its low-profile status, Dazed has attracted customers, thanks to its prominent signage and location near the university. The shop occupies a spacious storefront, formerly home to the bar Hungry Chuck’s, and has already made waves by hosting Carmelo Anthony, a former Syracuse basketball star and NBA Hall of Famer, who promoted his cannabis brand, STAYME70, at the location.

Dazed is not just a retail space; it aims to be a cultural hub. The shop offers a diverse range of products, including its own line of vapes, pre-rolls, edibles, and merchandise. According to inventory manager Eric Abdo, Dazed serves as a gathering place where cannabis culture intersects with music, art, fashion, and food. “Dazed is the place where it happens,” Abdo stated, emphasizing the shop’s role in bridging people through cannabis.

Currently, there are 15 adult-use recreational dispensaries operating in Onondaga County as part of the larger network of 433 adult-use dispensaries across New York State, reflecting a growing acceptance and integration of cannabis into local economies.

As Dazed prepares for its grand opening, residents and visitors alike are eager to see how this new venue will shape the local cannabis landscape and community engagement. This development is a pivotal moment for Syracuse, particularly with the influx of students returning to the area.

Stay tuned for updates as Dazed finalizes its grand opening details, which promise to be a significant event for the Syracuse community.
