construction-begins-on-las-vegas-sands-8-billion-resort-in-singapore

URGENT UPDATE: Construction has officially begun on an $8 billion “ultra luxurious” integrated resort in Singapore, marking a significant expansion of Las Vegas Sands’ footprint in Asia. The groundbreaking ceremony took place earlier today, July 15, 2025, attended by Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Las Vegas Sands co-founder Miriam Adelson.

This ambitious project will feature a stunning 55-story all-suite resort, luxury retail spaces, gaming facilities, and an impressive 200,000 square feet of meeting space. CEO Robert Goldstein emphasized that this development is a brand-new venture, differentiated from the existing Marina Bay Sands, stating, “If you came expecting to hear about an extension of MBS, you’ve come to the wrong party.”

The centerpiece of the resort will be the 76,000-square-foot Skyloop, boasting infinity-edge pools and private cabanas exclusively for hotel guests. The rooftop area will also feature public amenities, including gardens, restaurants, and an observation deck, making it a key attraction for both tourists and locals.

A state-of-the-art 15,000-seat arena, designed by the acclaimed architectural team Populous, will be built at the base of the resort, enhancing Singapore’s live entertainment landscape. The project was designed by renowned architect Moshe Safdie, who previously crafted the iconic Marina Bay Sands and Jewel Changi Airport.

This development aligns strategically with Singapore’s ambitious “Tourism 2040” strategy, aiming to triple tourism revenue from meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE). The government is keen to attract leisure travelers by enhancing world-class attractions and live entertainment options.

The new resort is expected to significantly boost Singapore’s tourism sector, contributing to the recent surge in high-profile launches, including the all-villa Raffles Sentosa Singapore and the newly opened Rainforest Wild Asia zoological park. A revamped aquarium, Oceanarium, is also set to launch next week, further enriching the island’s appeal.

As construction progresses, all eyes will be on how this ambitious project unfolds, potentially reshaping Singapore’s skyline and enhancing its status as a premier global destination. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
