Clinton Township Media Director Jim Perpich Retires After 10 Years
UPDATE: Jim Perpich, the director of Clinton Township’s community relations & media services, is officially retiring at the end of 2025. After a decade of dedicated service, Perpich’s impact on the township is being recognized as he prepares to close this chapter of his career.
Perpich, who has transformed the township’s communication channels, stated, “I like to think I helped establish and expand the Township’s communication channels, enabling our Board of Trustees to better serve residents.” His departure marks the end of an era for the largest township in Michigan, where he has played a crucial role for the past ten years.
During his career, Perpich has been honored with a special tribute resolution from Macomb County’s delegation of state House members, which praised him for his “extraordinary service” to the community and his commitment to veterans. The resolution highlighted his meticulous storytelling during events such as Wreaths Across America, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day.
Current Supervisor Paul Gieleghem expressed gratitude for Perpich’s contributions, emphasizing how he transformed the township’s local municipal cable TV department into a thriving communications team. “Jim helped ensure Clinton Township residents got the information they needed to connect as a community,” Gieleghem noted.
As Perpich prepares for retirement, he reflects on the support he received from former Supervisor Bob Cannon and the inspiration he found in Gieleghem’s leadership. “Supporting Gieleghem’s efforts to increase the community’s understanding of present-day challenges will make Clinton Township an even better place to live,” he said.
While no successor has been named yet, township officials report a “flood of well-qualified applicants” ready to step into this vital role. This transition comes amid significant changes within the township, as other key personnel also retire this year, including police officer Eric Oltersdorf and former police chief Dina Caringi.
Perpich leaves behind a talented and creative staff, ensuring the continued growth of the communications department. As he steps into retirement, the community celebrates his legacy and the positive changes he has brought to Clinton Township.
Residents and officials alike are encouraged to share their best wishes for Perpich as he embarks on this new journey. His retirement is not just a personal milestone; it represents a pivotal moment for Clinton Township as it looks to the future.
