BREAKING: Central Michigan has claimed a decisive 24-13 victory over in-state rival Eastern Michigan in their Mid-American Conference opener, as star players Angel Flores and Nahree Biggins dominated the field in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, on October 7, 2023.

Flores showcased his dual-threat capabilities, rushing for 137 yards and throwing a critical touchdown pass, while Biggins added 115 rushing yards and a touchdown, propelling the Chippewas to an early lead. The win marks a significant moment for Central Michigan, improving their record to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

The game kicked off with starting quarterback Joe Labas opening the scoring for Central Michigan with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Brock Townsend. Just minutes later, Biggins electrified the crowd with a 49-yard touchdown rush, pushing the score to 21-3 by the second quarter.

Eastern Michigan responded with a field goal from Rudy Kessinger, but it was not enough to close the gap. In a thrilling moment, Eagles’ quarterback Noah Kim managed to score a 14-yard touchdown after recovering his own fumble, narrowing the deficit to 21-13 with 10:45 left in the third quarter.

The excitement continued as Kim faced pressure, resulting in a game-changing interception by Maddix Blackwell at the end of the third quarter, marking the only turnover of the match. As the clock wound down, Central Michigan sealed their victory with a 22-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

This intense matchup was the 103rd total and 54th consecutive meeting between these two schools, a rivalry that began way back in 1902.

Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan, now 1-4 and 0-1 in the conference, will face Buffalo next Saturday, while Central Michigan aims to continue their momentum against Akron.
