UPDATE: The annual Taste of Hamburg-er Festival is underway today, August 30, 2025, drawing thousands of enthusiastic burger lovers to Hamburg, Pennsylvania. The festival, now in its 21st year, features an array of unique burger creations and competitive eating events that promise excitement and flavor.

At the heart of the festival, competitive eater Nick Sokolovich of Bernville kicked off the day with the thrilling Dine & Dash Burger & Trails Race. As the air horn blared, Sokolovich devoured his cheeseburger in mere moments before sprinting a mile to tackle a second burger. “I love competitive eating and I love running,” he said, highlighting his passion for both activities. Despite the grueling nature of the race, he eagerly trained, joking about practicing with a double Quarter Pounder the day before.

The festival is a culinary wonderland, featuring burgers topped with everything from pulled pork to pineapple. Attendees like Taunya and Kelly Arnold from Lebanon are savoring the diverse offerings. “We’re here for the burgers,” Taunya stated, as they meticulously planned their burger route with a map. After sampling a crab fry burger, they aimed to split four or five more throughout the day, ensuring they experienced as much as possible.

The vibe is electric as guests line up for festival favorites. Tim and Rachel Bowers arrived early, waiting in a line of over 80 people for the infamous Luther Burger, a mouthwatering creation featuring a bacon cheeseburger nestled between two glazed donuts. “It’s worth waiting in line for,” Tim declared, as he and his wife prepared for their seventh visit to the festival.

The variety of culinary delights keeps attendees returning year after year. From burgers topped with jam to unique vegetarian options, there’s something for everyone. Festival-goers are urged to check out the numerous stands offering innovative twists on the classic burger, ensuring no palate goes unsatisfied.

As the festival progresses, Sokolovich is not just competing in the Dine & Dash but also gearing up for the burger-eating competition later in the day, where he previously won the amateur division. With his competitive spirit, he aims to reclaim his title, adding to the excitement of the day.

The Taste of Hamburg-er Festival is not just about food; it’s a celebration of community and culinary creativity, drawing people from all over. As attendees indulge in their burger fantasies, the festival promises to deliver not just great taste but unforgettable memories.

With the event still in full swing, visitors are encouraged to experience the flavors and festivities while they last. Whether running a race or sampling new dishes, the Taste of Hamburg-er Festival is a must-see for burger enthusiasts.

Stay tuned for more updates as the festival continues to unfold!
