Bradford Township Fire Station Sale: Offers Open Now!
URGENT UPDATE: The Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department has just announced the sale of its former fire station, known as Station 15-1, located on Interstate Parkway. Originally listed in June 2025, this property is drawing renewed interest as the department consolidates its operations, making this an immediate opportunity for potential buyers.
The fire station, which has not housed a fire truck for years, is now available for purchase due to increased equipment sizes that rendered the facility outdated. Chief Dan Burkhouse stated, “The size of our apparatus has increased dramatically, and these buildings just aren’t big enough for our trucks anymore.”
Built in 1958, the station comprises just over 11 acres of land and features a versatile space that can accommodate over 220 people with tables and chairs. It includes full bathrooms, a kitchen, cold storage, and a garage, making it highly functional for non-fire service uses. According to department President Sean Galbraith, “It could be used for just about anything with the right imagination, within zoning requirements.”
Galbraith envisions the property as a potential community center or daycare facility, explaining, “It’s nice because it is a little out of the way but not too far from town. It could be a great fit for the right people or group.”
Current maintenance costs have prompted the department to sell rather than renovate, as Galbraith emphasized, “We really think this is our best fiscal move to get rid of this building and use those funds to update a building more centrally located to where our first responders are.”
The proceeds from this sale are earmarked for updates to both the Custer City Valley and West Branch Valley fire stations, which are also facing space issues. The department is open to all reasonable offers, and interested parties can contact them at (814) 362-3280 or via email at [email protected].
This sale represents a significant opportunity for community development, and the department is eager to see the space utilized effectively for local needs. With the fire station’s functional features and prime location, it is poised to attract serious interest from various groups.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story and potential buyers’ responses. The clock is ticking as the department aims to finalize this sale soon.
