Board members voted unanimously to label his performance as “effective,” reaffirming his strong leadership amid ongoing challenges.
Noskey, who has led the district since 2016, continues to excel in various responsibilities, including financial management, curriculum quality, and community relations. The evaluation assessed his performance across five key categories, with Noskey achieving the top mark of 3 in four of them, resulting in a final weighted score of 2.98 out of 3.
Board President Terry Boni expressed satisfaction with Noskey’s performance, stating, “We found Mr. Noskey just as effective as he was before.” This consistent high performance is notable; Boni mentioned that Noskey has never scored below 92% in any evaluation during his tenure.
The school board meeting highlighted Noskey’s strengths in governance, community relations, staff relations, business and finance, and instructional leadership. His ability to foster a positive culture and build relationships with staff has been pivotal for the district’s success. “His relationship with the staff has really shined,” Boni added, commending Noskey for hiring effectively and maintaining a supportive work environment.
In response to his evaluation, Noskey credited his success to collaborative efforts with his administrative team, stating, “I could not do this job without my administrative team.” He emphasized the importance of visibility and community engagement, saying, “There’s something special about Belding,” reflecting on the district’s close-knit atmosphere.
Despite financial challenges, including a 12% drop in student enrollment over nine years, Belding Area Schools have maintained a solid financial standing, with a general fund balance typically between 15% and 20% of annual expenditures. Noskey, who currently earns a base salary of $157,725, faces the ongoing task of ensuring the district thrives while preserving its identity as a “small community.”
Looking ahead, the school board and Noskey are focused on continuing to strengthen relationships with staff and the community. As Belding Area Schools confront future challenges, the board’s support for Noskey remains pivotal in navigating the educational landscape.
This evaluation marks a significant moment for both the superintendent and the district, reinforcing the positive trajectory under Noskey’s leadership. As he moves forward, the emphasis on community and collaboration will be critical in achieving the district’s goals and sustaining its strong reputation.
