UPDATE: The Beaver Water District in Benton County, Arkansas, has announced a striking 50% increase in sales since the winter months, reflecting the rapid growth of the region. This surge comes as the district serves over 450,000 residents, emphasizing the need for sustainable water usage.

The district has launched a new initiative, the Beaver Believer Program, aimed at promoting responsible lawn irrigation. On a typical summer day, the district reports that over 25 million gallons of water are consumed solely for lawn care. Trish Ouei, Director of Public Affairs, stated, “We’re asking folks to realize that their small impacts really do make a huge difference on the lake.”

As Northwest Arkansas continues to expand, the Beaver Water District is committed to meeting the demands of its growing population. Ouei affirmed, “We have our plan set. Out of these are what the population projections are, and we’re going to meet that, and we’re going to make sure we’re getting water to everyone. But there’s plenty of water in the lake. It’s making sure we keep ahead of the growth.”

In response to the increasing demand, the district is actively constructing a new clear well and pipeline to enhance water delivery. Ouei urged the community to consider simple changes in their watering habits, stating, “It starts by not watering your plants and lawn every day if not necessary.”

With the region’s rapid development, the Beaver Water District is not only planning for residential needs but also for the economic growth that accompanies population increases. “We are constantly planning ahead for the future growth of Northwest Arkansas, not just for the people, for the economic growth that comes with that,” Ouei added.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the Beaver Believer Program to help conserve water and ensure sustainability for future generations. The district’s proactive measures and community engagement are vital as they navigate this significant increase in demand.

Stay tuned for more updates as Beaver Water District continues to adapt to the challenges posed by the area’s rapid growth.
