UPDATE: In a dramatic showdown, the No. 7 Baylor Bears staged a stunning comeback, overcoming an 8-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the UNLV Lady Rebels 62-54 late Friday night in Las Vegas. This victory marks Baylor’s third consecutive win of the season, improving their record to 3-0.

Taliah Scott, a standout transfer from Auburn, led the Bears with an impressive 23 points, showcasing her scoring prowess once again. Scott has been a revelation for Baylor, accumulating 78 points over her first three games, consistently scoring over 20 points each time.

The game took a pivotal turn in the fourth quarter when Baylor capitalized on a devastating shooting drought from UNLV, which managed only 1-of-18 from the field during this critical stretch. Baylor outscored the Lady Rebels 19-5 in the final quarter, turning the tides in their favor.

UNLV had initially led the game, flipping an 8-point deficit in the third quarter into a 7-point lead heading into the final frame. Jazmyn Lott was a key player for the Lady Rebels, contributing 18 points before leaving the game temporarily due to injury. Meadow Roland added 13 points and 11 rebounds, but the team’s momentum faltered as Baylor surged back.

The Lady Rebels, ranked 350th nationally in three-point shooting, struggled initially, hitting only 1 of 10 from beyond the arc in the first half. However, they found their rhythm briefly in the third quarter, executing a critical 17-2 run that sparked hope for their fans.

As the game reached its climax, Baylor took advantage of UNLV’s misfortunes following Lott’s exit. After Lott returned, Baylor struck back with an 11-2 run, solidifying their control of the game.

Looking ahead, Baylor prepares to host Le Moyne on Sunday, while UNLV aims to bounce back against Montana State on Tuesday.

This thrilling contest not only highlights Baylor’s resilience but also sets the stage for an exciting season ahead. Stay tuned for more updates on NCAA women’s basketball as teams continue to battle for dominance.
