Autism Foundation of Oklahoma Launches Urgent Endowment Fund
BREAKING: The Autism Foundation of Oklahoma has just announced the establishment of a vital endowment fund at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, aiming to ensure the future of its services for autistic individuals. This urgent initiative is designed to support long-term operations and growth, providing essential resources to those in need.
Since its inception, the foundation has expanded significantly, now employing a team of ten under the leadership of Executive Director Emily Scott. Initially starting as the sole employee seven years ago, Scott has witnessed the organization grow to offer services throughout the lifespan of autistic individuals, not just limited to children and youth.
The foundation hosts monthly social events tailored for autistic and neurodivergent teens and young adults, fostering community connection and support. Emily Scott, a mother of a 23-year-old son with autism, observed a critical gap in services for adults after high school graduation. Her personal experience drives the foundation’s mission to address this urgent need.
To bolster its operations, the endowment fund will utilize interest to maintain staff salaries and essential services. Donations to the fund will be matched by a grant from the Kirkpatrick Family Fund, with a significant goal set: if the foundation raises $25,000 by November 2026, it will qualify for an additional $15,000 match.
Scott emphasized the importance of this endowment, stating, “This fund will help ensure that our programs continue serving Oklahoma’s autism community for years to come.” The establishment of this fund is crucial not only for sustaining current operations but also for expanding support to a demographic that often lacks adequate resources.
With the growing demand for services, this endowment represents a critical step forward in providing continuous support for autistic individuals in Oklahoma. The Autism Foundation of Oklahoma is calling on community members and supporters to contribute to this important cause, ensuring that no one is left behind as they transition into adulthood.
As the foundation embarks on this new chapter, it invites everyone to play a role in this significant initiative. Share this news to spread awareness and encourage contributions, ensuring a brighter future for Oklahoma’s autism community.
