URGENT UPDATE: The Montgomery County Stillwater Center has officially launched its annual Holiday Giving Tree for the 2025 season, inviting the community to participate in a heartwarming initiative that supports its residents. Accessible both in-person at the Montgomery County Administration Building and online, this year’s tree promises to deliver joy and smiles to those in need.

Dr. Michelle Pierce-Mobley, Director of the Stillwater Center, shared that “the Giving Tree has truly found its groove in the digital age,” emphasizing the overwhelming support received in past years. Every tag on the tree has been claimed for the last three years, showcasing the community’s commitment to making the holidays special for the center’s 100 residents.

The Stillwater Center serves as an intermediate care facility for individuals with developmental disabilities, housing residents ranging from toddlers to seniors in their 80s. Each tag on the Giving Tree lists a resident’s top holiday wishes, which include a variety of items such as toys, puzzles, books, and bathrobes. This initiative not only provides gifts but also fosters a sense of belonging and appreciation among the residents.

Justin Allen, Assistant for the Stillwater Center’s Residential Enrichment, noted, “We see it every year: when the gifts arrive, so do the smiles.” He highlighted the emotional impact of the program, stating it makes residents feel seen and valued.

Community members are encouraged to contribute by selecting tags from the tree. It is important to note that participants are not required to fulfill every wish on the tag. However, gifts must be new, unwrapped, and clearly labeled with the resident’s initials. All donations must be dropped off or shipped to the Stillwater Center by December 8 at 8100 N. Main St., Dayton. For those opting to ship, packages should be addressed to “Attn: Justin Allen” and include the resident’s initials for proper distribution.

This year’s initiative is not just about giving; it’s about creating a connection between the residents and the wider community. The impact of these gifts extends beyond material items, bringing joy and recognition to individuals who often go unnoticed.

With the holiday season fast approaching, the Stillwater Center’s Giving Tree stands as a beacon of hope and goodwill. Community members are urged to act quickly and help ensure that every resident experiences the magic of the holidays.
