Angels Rally in 10th Inning to Defeat Athletics 11-5

BREAKING: The Los Angeles Angels pulled off a thrilling comeback, defeating the Athletics 11-5 in West Sacramento on Sunday. Jo Adell led the charge with a pivotal three-run homer in the first inning and a crucial RBI single in the tenth, ensuring the Angels avoided a three-game sweep.
Kenley Jansen showcased his dominance on the mound, recording two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning, bringing his career total to 1,268 strikeouts—ranking him fourth all-time among major league relievers.
In the decisive tenth inning, automatic runner Mike Trout advanced to third on a passed ball. Following a walk to Taylor Ward, Adell lined a single to center, pushing the Angels ahead 6-5. Christian Moore then contributed with a grounder to extend the lead, while Luis Rengifo hit a two-run triple off Ben Bowden. To cap the scoring, Zach Neto crushed a 436-foot homer, marking his 21st of the season.
Adell’s first-inning blast was his 26th of the year, extending his career best. The Athletics fought back with Nick Kurtz and Shea Langeliers hitting back-to-back homers, and Lawrence Butler added his 17th to narrow the gap to 5-4 in the sixth, before Luis Urías tied the game with a two-out RBI single.
“Key moment: Jansen loaded the bases with two out in the ninth but got Butler to pop out in foul territory on a first-pitch cutter,” an official report stated.
This victory holds significant importance as the Angels prepare to host the Cincinnati Reds for a three-game series starting on Monday. Pitcher Victor Mederos (0-0, 5.63 ERA) is scheduled to take the mound for the Angels, while the Athletics will face the Minnesota Twins with Jacob Lopez (6-6, 3.30) on Tuesday night.
