Xthings has unveiled its latest innovation in smart home technology, the Ultraloq Bolt Z-Wave smart lock, which has now received Z-Wave Plus V2 certification. This development enhances the lock’s functionality and compatibility within various smart home ecosystems, making it a significant addition for consumers seeking advanced security solutions.

The Ultraloq Bolt is compact, measuring just 2.95 inches square. It features a numeric keypad that encircles its key cylinder, although this model does not include a fingerprint reader available in some other variants. The latest iteration utilizes a Z-Wave 800 chip, allowing it to connect with Z-Wave 800-powered smart home hubs, promising a remarkable range of over 1,300 feet. This long-range capability is particularly advantageous for larger properties or those with complex layouts, as it can penetrate various building materials effectively.

For integration, users will need a Z-Wave smart home hub to connect the lock to their home Wi-Fi network. The Ultraloq Bolt is compatible with hubs from Alarm.com, which supports numerous home security service providers, as well as SmartThings and Home Assistant, popular choices for do-it-yourself enthusiasts. While the lock is backward compatible with earlier generations of Z-Wave hubs, users should note that the range will not be as extensive with older hardware.

The certification of Z-Wave Plus V2 also introduces notable features. Users can easily set up the lock by scanning a QR code through the manufacturer’s SmartStart technology. Additionally, it supports Z-Wave S2 128-bit AES encryption, which enhances security and protects against unauthorized access.

A distinctive feature of the Ultraloq lock is its anti-peep technology, designed to prevent potential burglars from learning the user’s PIN code. By allowing users to input random digits before and after their actual code, this function adds an extra layer of security against prying eyes or lifted fingerprints.

The Ultraloq Bolt smart lock also offers flexibility for users who need to grant temporary access. Homeowners can create time-limited PINs for short-term rental guests, service providers, or contractors, ensuring that access is only valid during specified times.

Currently, the Ultraloq Bolt with Long Range Support is available for $179.95. This launch marks another step forward in smart home security, combining compact design with advanced technology to meet the needs of modern consumers.
