In their first match on September 22, 2023, the Scarlet Knights faced Princeton on the road. Despite being significantly outshot, with Princeton tallying 21 shots compared to Rutgers’ 7, the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Rutgers goalkeeper Olivia Bodmer proved to be a standout performer, making eight saves, including a crucial stop on a penalty shot.
Princeton opened the scoring in the 76th minute, placing a well-aimed shot into the right corner of the net. However, Rutgers quickly responded just four minutes later.
