Green Bay Packers safety Omar Brown will remain in Indianapolis overnight for observation following a chest injury sustained during Saturday’s preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. Head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that Brown suffered a chest contusion, which prompted his hospitalization.

The incident occurred early in the game, where Brown exhibited concerning symptoms, including wearing an oxygen mask and holding his midsection as he was escorted off the field. LaFleur described the situation as “kind of a scary deal” after the Packers secured a 23-19 victory. Before his exit, Brown had played 19 defensive snaps and 10 on special teams, showcasing his potential in his first season with the team.

Brown has been a standout performer during training camp, making significant strides after spending most of last season on the practice squad. His impressive training camp included three interceptions during the Packers’ annual Family Night practice at Lambeau Field, adding to the urgency of his fight for a spot on the 53-man roster.

In addition to Brown’s injury, the team faced other potential setbacks. Rookie defensive lineman Barryn Sorrell left the game with a knee injury during the first half. Meanwhile, running back MarShawn Lloyd did not return after making a 33-yard catch in the second quarter. Although Lloyd was seen on the sidelines in uniform for the remainder of the game, LaFleur commented on his status, saying, “We’ll see.”

The Packers are counting on Lloyd to provide support behind starting running back Josh Jacobs. Lloyd, a third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, faced challenges last season, participating in only one game due to various injuries and illness. He returned to full practice last week, marking his preseason debut on Saturday.

As the Packers prepare for the upcoming season, the health of their players remains a critical focus. Brown’s potential recovery will be closely monitored, as the team looks to solidify its roster and enhance its performance in the regular season.
