Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar has been hospitalized after experiencing a heart issue. The 34-year-old player was admitted on Tuesday, and his current club, Sao Paulo FC, confirmed that he is in a stable condition and remains under observation. Medical professionals are conducting further tests to determine the exact nature of his condition.

According to the club’s statement, Oscar “presented an incident with cardiological changes” during routine tests as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2026 pre-season. He was treated by the club’s medical team in collaboration with staff from Einstein Hospital Israelita, who were already on site at the training facility in Sao Paulo.

The club emphasized that they are adhering to standard procedures and will respect Oscar’s privacy, stating that further updates will be provided once they receive information from the medical team, in agreement with the player.

Oscar re-joined Sao Paulo in December 2024, the club where he began his youth career and made his professional debut. During the 2025 season, he made 27 appearances across all competitions, contributing three goals and 11 assists. However, he faced significant challenges due to muscular injuries and a lower back fracture, which limited his playing time.

Before returning to Brazil, Oscar spent seven years with Shanghai Port in China, where he secured three Chinese Super League titles. His earlier career includes a successful stint at Chelsea FC from 2012 to 2017, during which he won the Premier League twice. Additionally, Oscar has represented the Brazil national team in 48 matches, showcasing his talent on an international level.

As fans and supporters await further news about his health, the football community continues to express concern for the player’s well-being during this challenging time.
