OLEAN — Olean General Hospital has announced the addition of nurse practitioner Katlin Sikes to its primary care team. Sikes, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, will collaborate with Dr. Zia Sheikh to deliver healthcare services to patients aged 18 and older.

Sikes brings a wealth of experience to her new role. After nearly a decade as a registered nurse, she earned her master’s degree in family nurse practitioner (FNP) from D’Youville University in Buffalo. Her educational journey also includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Delhi and an associate degree in nursing from Jamestown Community College.

Commitment to Comprehensive Patient Care

As a primary care provider, Sikes is dedicated to offering comprehensive patient care. Her services encompass wellness visits, preventative care, health screenings, and chronic disease management. She treats a variety of conditions, including hypertension, high cholesterol, congestive heart failure (CHF), anxiety, and diabetes.

“I was a registered nurse for almost 10 years before becoming licensed as a nurse practitioner,” Sikes shared. “I am excited to continue my career path and take care of the community that helped raise me.”

Sikes emphasizes the importance of patient advocacy and personalized care. “I am dedicated to taking the time needed to listen and completely understand what issues patients are having. This allows me to advocate for them to receive the care and treatment necessary to help them get better,” she said.
