As the college football season approaches, interest among high school recruits is intensifying. Four-star safety Tavares Harrington from Mount Carmel High School in Illinois has announced plans for several gameday visits during the fall season. Recently, Harrington informed Rivals reporter Greg Smith that he has scheduled visits to seven prominent college football programs, including a notable stop at the University of Michigan to witness the Wolverines face Wisconsin in a Big Ten matchup.

This upcoming visit to Ann Arbor will mark Harrington’s first return to Michigan’s campus since June 2024. The athlete is also set to visit other elite programs, such as Notre Dame, Miami, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, and Missouri. With these visits on the horizon, Harrington’s recruitment journey is poised to gain momentum.

According to Smith, Alabama and Notre Dame have emerged as significant players in his recruitment thus far. As Harrington’s profile continues to rise, the potential for other programs to increase their interest is evident, adding a layer of excitement to the recruiting landscape. He mentioned to Rivals that he aims to make an early college decision in January or February 2026, indicating that these visits will be critical in shaping his final choice.

Michigan extended an offer to Harrington in June, marking the beginning of their relationship. Bringing him to campus for a gameday experience is a positive development for Lamar Morgan, the Wolverines’ defensive backs coach, as the team competes with other top programs for Harrington’s commitment.

According to the Rivals Industry Rankings, Harrington is currently ranked as the No. 96 prospect in the class of 2027, making him the 10th-ranked safety and the fourth recruit from Illinois. As his recruitment progresses, the upcoming visits will be pivotal in determining where he ultimately decides to play college football.

As the season unfolds, fans and analysts alike will be closely monitoring Harrington’s experiences and impressions from each visit. With a busy schedule ahead, the decisions made over the coming months may significantly impact the future of college football recruitment in Illinois and beyond.
