The Philadelphia Eagles launched their preseason on August 10, 2025, at Lincoln Financial Field, marking a significant moment for many fans, particularly those attending an Eagles game for the first time. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and emotion as supporters gathered to witness their team kick off a new chapter.

One notable story emerged from the crowd, featuring ten-year-old Mason Smith from Fox Chase. Mason has long dreamed of attending an Eagles game, and his wish finally came true thanks to the generosity of a local fan. “I just really, really wanted to go to a game,” he expressed, recounting his earlier attempts to catch a glimpse of the team during training camp. Mason’s determination was evident when he stated, “Even if they didn’t stop, it doesn’t really matter because I get a chance to even see them.”

After seeing Mason’s story aired on Action News, Linda Ohlin from Schwenksville felt compelled to assist him in fulfilling his dream. “This little kid has never been to an Eagles game. What can I do?” Ohlin asked herself. With the help of Action News reporter Katherine Scott, she connected with Mason’s family and arranged tickets for the preseason game. “This kid loves his Eagles, and why not give him a chance to go to an Eagles game?” Ohlin said, emphasizing her desire to see the joy on Mason’s face.

Before stepping into the stadium, Mason expressed his gratitude, stating, “I’m thankful she got us tickets and all that she’s done for us.” His story represents the spirit of community that Eagles fans often share, illustrating how one act of kindness can create lasting memories.

The Albertson family, traveling from Richmond, Virginia, also made their way to the game as first-time attendees. Marchelle Albertson and her daughters, Morgan and Mara, were inspired by their late husband and father, Mark Albertson, who instilled a passion for the Eagles in their family. “My dad, he’s from Philadelphia, so we’ve been Eagles fans our whole life,” Morgan shared.

Marchelle recounted how she initially learned about football through Mark, who had a deep love for the game. Tragically, Mark passed away from a heart attack a few years ago, missing the Eagles’ most recent championship victory. In honor of his memory, the Albertsons decided to attend the game, fulfilling one of Mark’s wishes to share the stadium experience with his family. “He always wanted to bring them to the stadium to experience the atmosphere he loved,” Marchelle noted, capturing the essence of what it means to be part of the Eagles community.

As the Eagles began their preseason journey, fans like Mason and the Albertsons, along with many others, underscored the emotional connections and shared experiences that define this storied franchise. The game was not just about football; it was about family, community, and honoring the legacies of those who came before.
