The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward Jackson Blake to an eight-year contract extension worth $45 million, set to commence in the 2026-27 season. The announcement was made on Thursday, marking a significant commitment to the promising young player, who is the son of former NHL forward Jason Blake.

At just 21 years old, Blake had a notable performance during his rookie season, recording 17 goals and 17 assists across 80 regular-season games. He further showcased his capabilities during the playoffs, contributing three goals and three assists in 15 games.

Hurricanes’ Confidence in Blake’s Future

General Manager Eric Tulsky expressed enthusiasm regarding Blake’s potential, stating, “Jackson had an outstanding rookie season, and we think he is just scratching the surface of the player he can be.” He highlighted Blake’s “tenaciousness on the puck” and competitive nature as qualities that align well with the team’s culture, adding to the excitement surrounding his future with the Hurricanes.

Blake, a 5-foot-11 right wing, was selected by the Hurricanes in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft. Before joining the NHL, he honed his skills over two seasons at the University of North Dakota, where he developed into a significant prospect for the franchise.

This extension not only secures Blake’s place with the Hurricanes but also signals the organization’s commitment to building a competitive roster for the years ahead. With Blake’s talent and the support of the Hurricanes, fans can anticipate a bright future on the ice.
