Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hürzeler has expressed strong confidence that midfielder Carlos Baleba will not be joining Manchester United this summer. The statement comes amid reports that United is considering an ambitious move for the 21-year-old player. As they seek to strengthen their midfield options after recent signings, including Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Šeško, Baleba has emerged as a potential target.

Despite Baleba’s reported interest in the transfer, Brighton faces significant challenges regarding his departure. The player is under contract for another three years, with the option for the club to extend for an additional year. Brighton has set a valuation exceeding £100 million (approximately $135.4 million) for Baleba, a figure that may prove daunting for United.

Ahead of Brighton’s Premier League opener against Fulham on August 12, 2023, Hürzeler was clear in his belief regarding Baleba’s future with the club. “Very, very, very confident,” he stated emphatically when asked about the likelihood of the midfielder remaining with Brighton. “That’s just my belief.”

Baleba’s participation in the upcoming match remains uncertain due to a knee injury. Nonetheless, Hürzeler indicated that the midfielder has not been adversely affected by the speculation surrounding his potential transfer. “I didn’t see any change, he’s only changed his hair,” Hürzeler remarked with a laugh.

He further noted that Baleba appears to be in good spirits, enjoying his time with teammates and appreciating his development during the previous season. “He’s very grateful to have had the process he had last season,” Hürzeler added. If Baleba can demonstrate his fitness, he could be an option to start against Fulham.

As the summer transfer window progresses, the situation surrounding Baleba will continue to attract attention. Brighton fans and analysts alike will be keenly observing how this story unfolds in the coming weeks.
