President Donald Trump has publicly defended Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi in the face of backlash from some supporters regarding her handling of the investigation into accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. On March 16, 2024, Trump took to Truth Social to express his support, stating that Bondi is performing “a FANTASTIC JOB” in her position. This statement comes as tensions rise within the MAGA movement following the release of a controversial memo related to Epstein.

In his post, Trump addressed his supporters directly, saying, “What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’ They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!” He portrayed the ongoing criticism as an attack on his administration, which he labeled as “a PERFECT Administration.” Trump accused “selfish people” of attempting to undermine their efforts, referencing Epstein as “a guy who never dies.”

The memo, released earlier this week, has been a focal point of contention. According to CNN, it concluded that there was no evidence to support claims that Epstein maintained a “client list” or was murdered. This conclusion has led to significant backlash from some of Trump’s allies, including right-wing activist Laura Loomer, who has openly called for Bondi’s removal from her role.

Amidst the controversy, Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino has reportedly indicated he is contemplating resignation due to the escalating conflict between the FBI and the Department of Justice regarding the memo. During a White House press briefing on March 12, Trump responded to inquiries about the Epstein investigation, expressing disbelief that reporters were focusing on such questions at that moment.

In his recent post, Trump reiterated his frustration with the ongoing investigations into Epstein, stating, “For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again.” He also directed criticism towards political figures such as former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former FBI Director James Comey, suggesting they are responsible for the so-called “Epstein Files.”

Trump questioned why these political adversaries had not released any damaging information that could potentially harm the MAGA movement. He urged Kash Patel, the FBI Director, to shift focus toward issues he deems more pressing, including allegations of voter fraud and political corruption related to the 2020 election.

“LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT!” Trump concluded in his post, dismissing Epstein as “somebody that nobody cares about.” This strong endorsement from Trump reflects his ongoing commitment to support Bondi amid the scrutiny she faces from various factions within his political base.
