SpaceX Successfully Launches 24 Starlink Satellites from California

SpaceX conducted a successful launch of 24 Starlink satellites on August 30, 2025, from Vandenberg Space Force Base, located on California’s central coast. The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off at 12:59 a.m. EDT (03:59 GMT; 9:59 p.m. local time on August 29). This mission marks another step in SpaceX’s ongoing efforts to expand its satellite internet service.
The Falcon 9’s first stage, known as Booster 1082, returned to Earth approximately 8.5 minutes post-launch, landing safely on the SpaceX drone ship “Of Course I Still Love You.” This particular booster has now completed 15 successful launches and landings, demonstrating SpaceX’s commitment to reusability in space travel. While this achievement is significant, it falls short of the company’s record of 30 launches for a single booster, set just two days prior on August 28 during another Starlink mission.
Progress of Starlink’s Satellite Network
If all procedures are executed as planned, the Falcon 9’s upper stage is expected to deploy the 24 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit 62.5 minutes after liftoff. This launch represents the 107th Falcon 9 flight for SpaceX in 2025, with over 70% of these missions dedicated to building the Starlink megaconstellation. Currently, Starlink comprises more than 8,200 operational satellites, making it the largest satellite network ever assembled.
SpaceX’s initiatives extend beyond Starlink; the company has also conducted four missions this year focused on testing its Starship rocket. This fully reusable spacecraft is designed to facilitate human exploration of the Moon and Mars. The latest Starship test occurred on August 26 and was deemed a complete success, further showcasing SpaceX’s ambitions for future space exploration.
As the company continues to expand its satellite offerings, the implications for global internet access and connectivity are significant. With each launch, SpaceX aims to provide high-speed internet service to underserved regions worldwide, bridging the digital divide and enhancing communication capabilities.
The launch of these 24 Starlink satellites underscores SpaceX’s relentless pursuit of innovation in aerospace and telecommunications, marking yet another milestone in its mission to revolutionize how people connect to the internet.
