SpaceX Delays Starship’s 10th Test Flight Due to Ground Issues
SpaceX has postponed the launch of its Starship rocket, marking the tenth test flight of the world’s largest spacecraft. The company announced the cancellation of the scheduled launch at Starbase in Texas on August 24, 2023, due to an issue with ground systems that requires further troubleshooting.
In a statement on X, SpaceX explained, “Standing down from today’s tenth flight of Starship to allow time to troubleshoot an issue with ground systems.” The next launch opportunity is now set for August 25, 2023, though it remains uncertain if the technical issues will be resolved in time.
Upcoming Objectives for Starship
This tenth mission is particularly significant as it follows the investigations into the loss of Starship during its ninth test flight, which ended prematurely, and a static fire mishap that occurred earlier. The objectives for this upcoming mission are ambitious and include another attempt to deploy a payload of simulated next-generation Starlink satellites.
Additionally, SpaceX plans to conduct a reignition test of one of its Raptor engines and perform reentry tests. These tests are crucial for evaluating different materials that will be used in the spacecraft’s construction.
