Remembering Gloria “Glo” Ronnau: A Life of Love and Faith
Gloria “Glo” Ronnau, a beloved matriarch and community figure, passed away at the age of 104, leaving behind a legacy defined by unwavering love, faith, and family devotion. Born in 1921 in Los Angeles to Henry and Bertha Becnel, Gloria’s journey through life was marked by significant personal and societal changes, yet her core values remained steadfast.
As a young woman, Gloria attended Fremont High School and began her professional career at the Owl Rexall headquarters, where she met her future husband, Don Ronnau. Their marriage, which lasted until Don’s passing in 2007, was the foundation of a family deeply rooted in loyalty and faith. Together, they raised four children: Donny Ronnau, who passed away in 2023; Diane Ronnau, who died in 2022; Ann Sidler (Derald); and Carol Randolph.
Gloria was not only a mother but also a proud grandmother to Jennifer Randolph, Vincent Randolph (Krystal), Chris Randolph, Tracy Sidler (Eric), Aidan, and Ben Osterman. She cherished her role as a great-grandmother to Jackson, Julianna, Jillian, Devin, and Tristan. Known affectionately as “Auntie Glo,” she held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews, providing love and support throughout their lives.
A Community Pillar in San Pedro
A resident of San Pedro since 1962, Gloria dedicated two decades of her life to the Los Angeles Unified School District, working at both Banning High School and Dodson Middle School. Her commitment to education and community exemplified her nurturing spirit. Gloria created a welcoming home where family and friends gathered, always ensuring they felt loved and cared for.
Her faith was quietly embodied in her actions rather than expressed through words. Gloria was known for her humility and generosity, consistently supporting others without seeking recognition. She became a steady presence for her family, embodying the qualities of a matriarch whose influence shaped multiple generations.
Throughout her remarkable life, Gloria witnessed a century of transformation, adapting to the changing world while remaining true to the values that defined her. Her dedication to family and faith left an indelible mark on those around her.
Final Farewell Plans
The community will have an opportunity to pay their respects during a visitation on Sunday, December 21, 2023, from 14:00 to 18:00 at Green Hills Memorial Park in the Cove Room. A recitation of the Rosary is scheduled for 16:00. Following this, a funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church on Monday, December 22, 2023, at 10:00, with burial to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
Gloria Ronnau’s life was not characterized by accolades but by her unwavering devotion to her family, her faith, and the love that continues to resonate within her community. Her legacy is one of warmth, compassion, and resilience, serving as an inspiration for all who knew her.
