A man from Zachary, Louisiana, has been arrested on serious charges related to child pornography and online solicitation of minors. Authorities detained Austin Michael Granger, 28, after discovering he was in possession of pornographic materials involving children and had made sexual advances toward minors through social media platforms.

The arrest follows a thorough investigation conducted by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crime Unit, which began in May 2023. This investigation was initiated after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The authorities found that Granger had uploaded pornographic materials to an online account linked to him in February 2023.

Details of the Investigation

Investigators executed search warrants to scrutinize Granger’s social media activity, including an account on X (formerly Twitter). The findings from this analysis revealed that Granger had engaged in direct messaging with users who identified themselves as underage girls. In addition to these communications, more pornographic materials involving children were uncovered during the investigation.

Granger faces six felony counts of pornography involving juveniles and six counts of computer solicitation of a minor. The charges highlight the severity of his actions and the potential legal consequences he faces. A warrant for his arrest was issued through the 19th Judicial District Court, leading to his apprehension on Wednesday.

The EBRSO Cyber Crime Unit collaborates closely with the office of Attorney General Liz Murrill to address such critical cases. The investigation underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable populations.

As the case progresses through the judicial system, it serves as a reminder of the dangers that exist in online environments and the importance of vigilance in safeguarding children from potential harm.
