Trump Coines New Term for Loyal Supporters Amid GOP Divisions
President Donald Trump has introduced a new term aimed at his loyal supporters, coinciding with increasing divisions within the Republican Party. In a post on Truth Social, Trump suggested the terms “TEPUBLICAN” or “TPUBLICAN” as alternatives to describe those who align closely with his political agenda. This comes at a time when notable fractures are emerging between Trump and some of his former allies.
Trump’s penchant for coining new phrases has been evident throughout his political career, with previous examples including the term “covfefe.” His latest linguistic exploration appears to resonate with his base, as several supporters quickly picked up the suggested terms. Donald Trump Jr. even chimed in, suggesting the term “Trumplican” as a fitting label for the loyal faction of the party.
Fractures in the GOP
The timing of Trump’s new terminology is significant, as tensions within the Republican Party have escalated in recent weeks. A key incident involved Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Representative who has long been a staunch supporter of Trump. Their relationship soured following her public disagreement with Trump regarding the release of documents related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
On November 19, 2023, Trump signed a bill ordering the release of these files, despite previously dismissing calls for transparency as a “hoax” by Democrats. Greene’s support for a bipartisan effort to release the files diverged from Trump’s stance, leading to his public rebuke of her as a “traitor” and “disgrace” to the Republican Party.
In the wake of this conflict, Greene announced her resignation from Congress, effective January 2026. In her resignation letter and accompanying video address, she lamented the persistent issues facing average Americans, stating, “No matter which way the political pendulum swings, Republican or Democrat, nothing ever gets better for the common American man or woman.”
Other Republican Discontent
Greene is not the only Republican to face Trump’s ire recently. Rand Paul, a Senator from Kentucky, has also found himself at odds with the former president on various issues. Paul was the only Republican Senator to vote against legislation aimed at ending the U.S. government shutdown, alongside Representatives Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Greg Steube of Florida, both of whom also voted against the bill.
Trump criticized Paul and Massie, labeling them “lowlifes” for their decisions. Tensions heightened further after Trump called for the arrests of six Democrats who had encouraged military personnel to refuse unlawful orders, branding them as “seditious.” Paul responded during an appearance on CBS’ *Face the Nation*, describing Trump’s remarks as “reckless” and “irresponsible.”
The Senator expressed concern about the potential for a “splintering” of the movement that has traditionally supported Trump, particularly in light of the controversial military strikes authorized by Trump’s administration in the Caribbean Sea, which aim to combat drug trafficking.
As the Republican Party grapples with internal conflicts and shifting loyalties, Trump’s new terminology may serve as a rallying cry for his most dedicated supporters, while further complicating the party’s dynamics in the lead-up to upcoming elections.
