Ultrahuman has introduced advanced cycle and ovulation tracking features for the Ultrahuman Ring AIR, following its acquisition of viO HealthTech. This new offering, launched on August 15, 2023, is designed to provide the most accurate cycle tracking available on any smart ring.

The new paid features complement existing free options for cycle, ovulation, and pregnancy tracking on the Ultrahuman platform. Users can expect enhanced accuracy thanks to algorithms developed from viO’s OvuSense fertility monitors, which are underpinned by over 15 years of research. Ultrahuman asserts that this algorithm is more precise than those used by competing products, particularly for women who do not have a standard 28-day cycle.

One of the standout aspects of this new feature is its ability to utilize the skin temperature sensor embedded in the Ultrahuman Ring AIR. This sensor is crucial for identifying subtle changes in basal body temperature, which can indicate ovulation. For women trying to conceive, pinpointing the days leading up to ovulation is essential, especially when cycles may not be regular.

The enhanced tracking system is reportedly effective for approximately 87% of women with irregular cycles, including those diagnosed with conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis. Users will receive cycle flags based on their temperature data, helping to highlight potential patterns related to their reproductive health. These flags can indicate issues such as early or late ovulation, a short luteal phase, or even anovulation during a cycle.

While the Ultrahuman Ring AIR provides valuable insights, the company emphasizes that it is not a replacement for professional medical advice. Women concerned about their menstrual cycles are encouraged to consult healthcare professionals. Having detailed information about one’s cycle can facilitate quicker and more accurate diagnoses from medical experts.

The advanced cycle tracking feature is available for a subscription fee of $3.99 per month or $39.99 per year. Notably, Ultrahuman differentiates itself in the market by offering a subscription-free experience for the basic functionalities of the ring, allowing users to opt for paid ‘PowerPlugs’ as needed.

This innovative approach to cycle tracking positions Ultrahuman at the forefront of health technology, particularly in the realm of women’s reproductive health. As more women turn to wearable technology for health insights, Ultrahuman’s latest offerings could have significant implications for personal health management.
