Reba McEntire Shares Life Lessons and Engagement News Ahead of ACM Awards

Country music icon Reba McEntire recently opened up about significant life lessons and her engagement to actor Rex Linn in an interview with Fox News Digital. As she prepares for the upcoming ACM Awards, McEntire reflects on her journey and the wisdom she has gained, particularly after reaching the milestone age of 70.
In the interview, McEntire identified the “hardest lesson” she has learned, which revolves around living in the present rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. She emphasized, “Quit living for tomorrow and for yesterday. That’s really hard to do, but it’s so rewarding when it clicks.” This mantra has become a cornerstone of her philosophy as she navigates her personal and professional life.
McEntire shared her evolving perspective on contentment, stating, “I used to think being content was a no-no, because if you’re content, you’re not going to strive to continue to do better.” However, she clarified that striving for improvement does not preclude enjoying the moment. “As I tell artists on ‘The Voice’ and anybody that ever asks me for advice, I’ll say, ‘Enjoy every minute,'” she added.
Engagement and Career Insights
Despite her extensive career spanning over 50 years, McEntire has no immediate plans to retire. “I don’t know when. It could be in 20 years,” she noted during her conversation. She recalled a discussion with fellow artist Dolly Parton, who expressed similar sentiments about retirement. “Why would I? What in the world could I do and have as much fun as what I’m doing in this job right now?” McEntire finds joy in her current phase of life, stating, “I love this chapter in my life. I’m very grateful.”
This chapter also includes her engagement to Linn, announced during the 2025 Emmy Awards in September. The couple, who first collaborated in the 1991 film “The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw,” reconnected in 2020 and have since developed a strong bond. McEntire described working with Linn on her show, “Happy Place,” as a rewarding experience. “Getting to work with Rex, drive to work with Rex and do the show, the rehearsals, drive home, talk about it, rehearse together – that’s what’s really special for me,” she said, highlighting the unique nature of their relationship.
In her reflections on love, McEntire expressed, “I’ve never been loved by a man like Rex Linn. Rex is a very tender-hearted man, and I just love him with all my heart.” Her admiration for him is evident, as she appreciates not only their romantic connection but also their collaborative efforts in the entertainment industry.
As she navigates this exciting phase of her life, McEntire encourages others to embrace the present and find joy in every moment. Her journey serves as a reminder of the importance of resilience, love, and living fully in the here and now.
