Oura Unveils New Ceramic Ring Collection with Four Vibrant Colors

Oura has officially launched the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic, introducing a fresh aesthetic to the smart ring market with four new color options. This latest release marks a significant shift from the traditional metal designs that have dominated the category, appealing to consumers seeking a more diverse range of materials.
The new Oura Ring 4 Ceramic retains the advanced technology of its predecessor while showcasing a durable zirconia ceramic exterior. Available in four distinct colors—Midnight (dark blue), Pedal (light pink), Tide (light aqua), and Cloud (off-white)—the ceramic ring is designed to stand out. The introduction of this collection is particularly noteworthy, as it represents Oura’s first foray into non-metal smart rings.
The pricing reflects this new design, with the Ceramic models starting at $499, compared to the standard Oura Ring 4, which begins at $349. The enhanced material not only contributes to a striking appearance but is also engineered to be hard and scratch-resistant, ensuring that the color is integral to the material itself rather than a superficial coating. This innovation promises longevity, allowing the ring to maintain its vibrant look throughout its lifespan.
In terms of physical characteristics, the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic is slightly heavier than its metal counterpart. While the standard model weighs between 3.3 grams and 5.2 grams depending on size, the Ceramic version ranges from 5.1 grams to 8.1 grams. Additionally, the thickness of the Ceramic model is greater at 3.5mm, compared to 2.9mm for the standard ring.
Charging and Compatibility Features
To complement the new ring, Oura has also introduced a dedicated charging case priced at $99. This case can recharge either the Oura Ring 4 or the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic up to five times on a single charge, with a charging time of approximately 90 minutes. However, it is worth noting that the new charging case is not compatible with older models, which could pose an inconvenience for existing Oura users.
The clamshell-style case features a splash and dust-resistant design, crafted from anodized aluminum on the outside and soft silicone on the inside. The size-specific nature of the case may limit its usability for couples or families who own different sizes of the ring.
For current Oura owners considering a switch to the new Ceramic models, Oura has streamlined the process through a multi-ring support feature in its app. This allows users to easily select and switch between different rings with just a few taps, enhancing the overall user experience.
Oura has also announced a new recycling program aimed at promoting sustainability. This initiative encourages users to trade in their older or damaged Oura Rings, making it easier to upgrade while minimizing environmental impact.
With the launch of the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic and its accompanying features, Oura continues to innovate in the wearable technology space, catering to a growing audience that values both functionality and style.
