Dr. Joel Paulino Joins Guam Community Health Center Team
Dr. Joel J. Paulino has officially joined the Guam Community Health Centers, as announced by the Department of Public Health and Social Services. His primary role will focus on supporting both the Northern and Southern Region Community Health Centers, with a significant assignment at the southern site.
A native CHamoru, Dr. Paulino brings over two decades of experience in the field of internal medicine. He has a notable history as a private practice owner and internal medicine specialist in Arizona, where he dedicated his career to serving underserved communities. His extensive experience also includes working as a staff internist with various national health organizations. Notably, he volunteered as a physician during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York, demonstrating his commitment to public health.
Dr. Paulino is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served with distinction as a major and internal medicine consultant with the 18th Medical Group at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Keesler Medical Center, part of the U.S. Air Force 81st Medical Group located in Biloxi, Mississippi. His academic credentials include a Doctor of Medicine degree from the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa and a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from the University of Guam.
Dr. Paulino has expressed a profound desire to return to his roots and serve his home community. “Coming home to care for our people is deeply meaningful to me,” he stated. “My focus will always be on providing high-quality, compassionate care that makes a difference in the lives of our patients.”
The Department of Public Health highlighted that Dr. Paulino’s appointment aligns with its ongoing efforts to improve access to comprehensive primary care services through the Guam Community Health Center network. This initiative is essential for ensuring quality and equitable care for the residents of Guam.
