CVS Completes Acquisition of Rite Aid Assets, Expanding Presence

CVS Pharmacy has successfully completed its acquisition of select assets from Rite Aid, a deal finalized on Wednesday that expands CVS’s footprint across the United States. This acquisition includes nine former Rite Aid locations in Maryland, along with 63 stores previously operated under Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
As part of this transaction, CVS also obtained the prescription files from **626 Rite Aid** and Bartell Drugs pharmacies located in **15 states**. The move comes after a ruling by the **U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey** in May, which approved the sale of these assets to CVS.
In Maryland, the specific Rite Aid locations acquired by CVS include:
– 1400 Sulphur Spring Road, Baltimore
– 1208 Parsons Road, Salisbury
– 702 Edgewood Road, Edgewood
– 4380 Park Heights Avenue, Baltimore
– 1003 Pulaski Highway, Havre De Grace
– 1520 Rock Spring Road, Forest Hill
– 9300 Lakeside Boulevard, Owings Mills
– 8634 Liberty Road, Randallstown
– 8601 Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City
To ensure service continuity and support patient needs during this transition, CVS has hired over **3,500 former Rite Aid** and Bartell Drugs employees who opted to join the company. In addition, CVS has committed to enhancing its existing locations by investing in staff expansion, strengthening training programs, and improving recruitment efforts.
This acquisition marks a significant step for CVS as it seeks to broaden its market presence and better serve customers across the United States. The integration of these new locations and employees is expected to provide seamless pharmacy services to the communities affected by the transition.
CVS’s proactive approach demonstrates its commitment to maintaining high standards of customer service while adapting to the evolving landscape of the pharmacy industry. The company is poised to leverage its resources and expertise to support both existing and new customers in the coming months.
