Colleen Hoover Reveals Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Journey
East Texas author Colleen Hoover openly shared her recent battle with cancer, announcing on Instagram that she has undergone radiation therapy. In a heartfelt post on Monday, she expressed her gratitude toward Texas Oncology, the treatment center, while humorously commenting on her appearance. “Second to last day of radiation! I wish I could blame my hair and facial expressions on @texas.oncology,” Hoover wrote, alongside a selfie. She emphasized the center’s supportive environment, stating, “Hope you never need them, but highly recommend them.”
Hoover’s announcement follows her previous disclosure to fans, known as “CoHorts,” in a private Facebook group. In December 2022, she mentioned experiencing “recurring health issues” during the production of “Reminders of Him,” the film adaptation of her 2022 novel. She revealed that her cancer diagnosis came shortly after returning home from filming in Canada.
During October 2023, Hoover missed the premiere of “Regretting You,” another film based on her work, citing an “unavoidable surgery.” While the specifics of this procedure remain unclear, it has raised questions about its possible connection to her cancer treatment.
In her recent Facebook post, Hoover elaborated on her health journey, indicating that her diagnosis likely stemmed from lifestyle choices, including “lack of exercise, poor diet and stress.” She candidly shared her feelings about these changes, stating, “I’m happy and grateful to be alive but I hate vegetables. I hate when I have to get off the couch. I hate sweating.” She humorously added, “If you see me at the gym, don’t even tell me good job. If you see me at a restaurant eating grilled chicken and drinking water, I’m probably real mad about it.”
Hoover’s rise to prominence began around 2022 when her novels captured the attention of readers on BookTok, a popular community on TikTok. Since then, multiple adaptations of her works have made their way to Hollywood. In a testament to her versatility, she recently released a thriller novel titled “Woman Down.”
As she navigates her health challenges, Hoover continues to connect with her readers, sharing her journey with transparency and humor. Her resilience serves as an inspiration to many, illustrating the importance of maintaining a positive outlook even in difficult times.
