Alternative band Wednesday continues to build anticipation for their upcoming album, Bleeds, set for release on September 19, 2025. Following the launch of their first single, “Wound Up Here (By Holdin On),” in June, the group has now unveiled a second track titled “Pick Up That Knife.” The single comes with a lo-fi music video that showcases the band members exploring a serene wooded area by a lake.

In a recent press release, band spokesperson Karly Hatzman described “Pick Up That Knife” as a reflection of feelings of helplessness. Hatzman elaborated, stating, “This song revolves around feelings of helplessness, when every minor inconvenience hurts double ’cause you’re close to giving up.” She also humorously referenced an incident during the Primavera Sound festival in 2023, when the band’s pedal steel player, Xandy, experienced an unfortunate moment in the mosh pit during a Death Grips performance.

Upcoming Album and Tour Details

Hatzman further characterized Bleeds as “the spiritual successor to Rat Saw God,” emphasizing that the new album encapsulates what they believe Wednesday songs are meant to sound like. “We’ve devoted a lot of our lives to figuring this out — and I feel like we did,” she remarked, highlighting the band’s dedication to their craft.

In addition to the new music, Wednesday has announced their 2025 tour schedule, which will kick off with a performance at the Project Pabst festival this weekend. After a series of festival appearances in October, the band plans to embark on a more extensive tour, showcasing their latest work and connecting with fans across various locations.

With the release of “Pick Up That Knife” and the announcement of their tour, Wednesday is poised to make a significant impact in the alternative music scene in the coming months. Fans can expect a blend of emotional depth and engaging performances as they prepare for the official launch of Bleeds through Dead Oceans.
