Vicki Gunvalson is officially returning to The Real Housewives of Orange County (RHOC) for its highly anticipated Season 20. The announcement came as a surprise during a live taping of Bravos and BravoCon held in Las Vegas on November 14, 2023. Andy Cohen, the host and executive producer of the franchise, presented Gunvalson with an orange—a nod to the show’s signature color—and asked her to rejoin the cast, prompting an emotional reaction from the reality star.

Gunvalson, who is often referred to as the “OG of the OC,” has a long history with the franchise, having been part of it since its inception in 2006. She has appeared in 14 seasons before announcing her departure in January 2020 through a heartfelt Instagram post. In her farewell message, she expressed gratitude for the support from fans and reflected on her transformative journey over the years.

“I will always be the OG of the OC, but it’s time to say goodbye to The Real Housewives of Orange County. It’s been an incredible ride for 14 years,” she wrote. Gunvalson also hinted at new projects and a podcast titled “Whoop it up with Vicki,” which she planned to launch soon.

Rekindled Friendships and Personal Reflections

The announcement of Gunvalson’s return coincides with news that she has reconciled with former co-star Tamra Judge. The two had a tumultuous relationship over the years, but they have reportedly put their differences aside. On November 5, Judge described their bond as akin to that of sisters, filled with ups and downs but ultimately grounded in love.

Gunvalson echoed this sentiment, stating, “I don’t think either one of us apologized. We are who we are.” She acknowledged her strong opinions about the show’s dynamics and her desire to distance herself from negativity. “I told Tamra yesterday, ‘You guys are going into a deep, dark hole. I hate it,’” she added, emphasizing her commitment to maintaining a healthier environment.

In a previous appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Cohen, Gunvalson’s daughter, Briana Culberson, indicated that her mother had struggled after leaving the show. “I think she’s still adjusting,” Culberson said in May 2021. “I don’t think it’s what she really wants for her life. I think she misses it and she misses the whole process and everybody.”

Culberson acknowledged the benefits of spending more time with her mother but recognized that Gunvalson felt a void following her exit from RHOC.

Anticipation for Season 20

With Gunvalson’s return, the lineup for RHOC Season 20 is shaping up to be compelling. The current cast includes Judge, Shannon Beador, Heather Dubrow, Gina Kirschenheiter, Emily Simpson, Jennifer Pedranti, and Katie Ginella. Fans are eager to see how Gunvalson’s re-entry will impact the dynamics among the cast members and the unfolding storylines.

As RHOC continues to evolve, Gunvalson’s presence is expected to bring both nostalgia and fresh drama to the series. Her history with the franchise, coupled with her recent personal developments, sets the stage for an engaging season ahead. Viewers will undoubtedly be tuning in to witness the upcoming interactions and the new chapter in Gunvalson’s life as she navigates her return to reality television.
