Tributes Pour in for Brandon Blackstock Following His Death

The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of talent manager Brandon Blackstock, who passed away on August 7, 2023, at the age of 48. His death, attributed to melanoma, has prompted heartfelt tributes from family and friends, reflecting on his legacy and personal life.
Larry Jones, the father of Brittney Marie Jones, Blackstock’s girlfriend, expressed his sorrow in a Facebook post. “Yesterday we lost a good man, Brandon Blackstock, my daughter’s soulmate, and I considered him my son,” he wrote on August 8. Jones extended his condolences to Brittney and noted, “We’re sure going to miss your funny humor. R.I.P hoss!”
Details surrounding Blackstock’s private life emerged from his obituary, highlighting his journey back to a simpler life after over two decades in the music industry. According to the tribute, he found solace in the mountains of Butte, Montana, where he built a life with Brittney and established the Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman. “Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly,” the obituary stated.
Blackstock’s family confirmed he had been battling cancer for more than three years and passed away peacefully at home under hospice care, surrounded by loved ones. “We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time,” a representative stated.
His death marks the end of a chapter that intertwined both his personal and professional life. Before embracing the cowboy lifestyle, Blackstock worked with Starstruck Entertainment, a talent company founded by his father, Narvel Blackstock. During his time there, he notably collaborated with artists such as Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton.
Despite his past in the entertainment world, sources indicate that Blackstock preferred a quieter life in Montana. “He lived a pretty quiet life… he had his ranch and rodeo, but he preferred to go under the radar,” a source shared. His passion for rodeo ultimately led to the establishment of Valley View Rodeo, which became a significant part of his life.
Blackstock’s relationships also drew attention during this time. He was previously married to Melissa Ashworth Wells from 2001 to 2012, with whom he shared two children, daughter Savannah, 23, and son Seth, 18. Following his marriage to Clarkson in October 2013, they welcomed two children: daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9. Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2020, finalizing the separation in March 2022.
Wells paid tribute to Blackstock on Instagram, sharing her admiration for him. “Brandon was full of charm, wit, and just an absolute gentleman who happened to wear cowboy boots, wrangler jeans, and a cowboy hat,” she wrote. “He was by far, hands down, the best Daddy and Pa. He loved hard and he fought hard.”
Seth also honored his father with heartfelt words on social media, stating, “I lost my hero yesterday, words can’t describe how proud of you I am on raising me and your 3 other kids.”
Brandon Blackstock’s legacy extends beyond his professional achievements. He is remembered for his dedication to family, his passion for life in Montana, and the impact he had on those around him.
