Thailand’s CEA Launches Second Content Project Market for Creators

Thailand’s Creative Economy Agency (CEA) is set to launch the second edition of its Content Project Market, aimed at connecting local creators with over 70 investors. Scheduled for September 10-12, 2023, at Bangkok’s True Digital Park, the event will serve as a national marketplace for filmmakers, screenwriters, and animators to pitch their projects directly to production houses, content investors, distributors, and streaming platforms, both domestically and internationally.
The Content Project Market will feature several key activities, including project pitching sessions, business-to-business (B2B) matching, and networking receptions. Additionally, industry forums led by both Thai and international experts will be open to content professionals and the general public, providing insights into the evolving media landscape.
Chakrit Pichyangkul, executive director of CEA, highlighted the agency’s vision for the event, stating, “CEA views the Content Project Market as more than just an event — it is a step toward building a comprehensive and sustainable ecosystem for Thai content creators.” He emphasized that this initiative aims to connect talent with funding and commercial platforms, thus facilitating the production of projects and elevating the quality of Thai content to compete on a global scale.
The event aligns with Thailand’s broader soft power strategy, which seeks to position the country as a burgeoning creative hub in Southeast Asia. Pichyangkul remarked on the economic potential of Thai content, noting, “Thai films and series have the power to attract international tourists and drive demand for Thai products and services featured in global content.”
A total of 54 creative teams are expected to present their projects at the market. Among these, 34 teams originate from CEA’s Content Lab 2025 project, which comprises three specialized programs: Mid-Career: Project, aimed at established creators developing content for international markets; Mid-Career: Story, focused on screenwriters crafting commercially viable scripts; and Mid-Career: Animation, designed for creators preparing Thai animations for production. An additional 20 professional content teams have been selected through an open call process, ensuring a diverse representation of talent.
The CEA operates as a public agency under the Office of the Prime Minister of Thailand, with a mission to foster balanced and sustainable growth within the country’s creative economy. The agency is dedicated to developing creative industries while promoting the integration of creativity and innovation into production, ultimately enhancing the value of goods, services, and cultural capital.
As the Content Project Market approaches, anticipation builds around its potential to not only boost the visibility of Thai content creators but also to serve as a strategic driver for the long-term development of Thailand’s creative landscape.
